This is Rackham's Fireelemental
from their tabletop game Confrontation. My first finished Rackham
miniature. I am burning to do more of their stuff.
And here's a little explanation on how
I painted the fire:
The way I painted the fire is based on the fact, that the color of
fire is the lightest, where it is the hotest. And fire is the hotest
in it's center. So it is only natural to paint the other way around
then you are used to paint. All the raised parts (and thus coolest
areas of the fire) have to be painted darker then the deepest areas.
That's why I started with a basecoat of very light yellow, almost like
ivory. Then I washed it with some lemon yellow to give the basecoat a
little more depth. After the wash had dried, I painted on layer after
layer of successively darker yellows and reds onto the raised areas
(those areas you would ussually paint the highlights on). Basicly you
blend in the darker tones like you would with highlights. The last
colors painted onto the most raised areas are darkest red and a bit
brown to simulate the flames going up in smoke. For better effect I
painted the face of the elemental the ussual way. It really looked
better this way.
Well, that's it. Now you have to give it a try. |
